Key Tips for a Smooth Counselling Process
Stay Updated: Regularly check the MCC website and state counselling portals for announcements and schedule changes.
Plan Your Choices: Use rank predictors and previous years’ cutoffs to prioritize colleges and courses that align with your NEET rank.
Adhere to Deadlines: Missing registration, choice locking, or reporting deadlines can result in forfeiture of your seat.
Understand Reservation Policies: Familiarize yourself with reservation categories (EWS, OBC, SC, ST, PwD) to maximize your chances of securing a seat.
Prepare for Physical Reporting: Ensure all documents are ready and verified to avoid last-minute issues during college reporting.
Seat Allotment and Stray Vacancy Round
The MCC allocates seats based on NEET ranks, candidate preferences, reservation policies, and available seats. After each round, candidates can choose to accept the allotted seat, opt for an upgrade in the next round, or exit the process (free exit in Round 1, forfeiture in Round 2). If seats remain vacant after Round 3, the Stray Vacancy Round allows registered candidates to fill remaining seats without fresh choice filling.
For state quota seats, candidates must follow the respective state’s counselling process, which may vary in terms of registration, fees, and seat allotment rules.
